About me

Handstand

A summer afternoon — Newbury, UK, 2024.

I’m a final-year Applied and Computational Mathematics student at California Institute of Technology (Caltech). I have roots in both the UK and Zambia; whereby I was born in Oxford, England and left for Lusaka, Zambia less than a year into my infancy. I spent the next 18 years in Zambia, mostly in remote areas of the country, where I completed my primary and secondary education. In recent years, most of my family has returned to the UK, which I now consider home. I feel deeply connected to both sides of my heritage and feel fortunate to have been influenced by both cultures.

Balance — Pasadena, California, 2025.

Outside of academics, I’m an avid reader (with a steadily growing backlog) and a poetry enthusiast. I especially enjoy crafting and reading Shakespearean sonnets—my favourite being none other than his most renowned Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

At the moment, I’m reading A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, a fascinating book about an exiled Russian count who is sentenced to lifelong house arrest in a grand hotel during the rise of the Soviet Union. The Brit in me means I’m a devoted tea drinker; however, my Southern African heritage makes Rooibos my favourite blend.

I also enjoy football (soccer) and calisthenics as I find that having some form of physical exertion complements my academic life well.
